Youth Group Mission Trips

The youth group plan each year for a mission trip to West Virginia for those 12 and older to spend a week working with home repairs. The youth group continues to return to the same area(World Vision Appalachia) to maintain relationships with the families that they work with year to year. There are fund raisers throughout the year to keep the cost of the trips small enough for everyone who wants to attend to be able to afford it.

Youth Group Events and Activities

The youth group meets frequently the with youth from First Baptist Church of Woodlawn and do many activities jointly. Between the two groups there were over 20 attending the mission trip in 2012.

Another joint trip with the First Baptist church of Woodlawn is to attend Creation Music Festival in June each year. Creation is held in Mt. Union, PA. The event is called a Christian Woodstock with 100,000 Christians camping listening to contemporary Christian music like Toby Mac and Chris Tomlin.

A tradition for the group is to participate in the 30 Hour Famine. This is an opportunity to experience hunger to more fully appreciate the plight of the hungry throughout the world. There is also the opportunity to care for those locally who are homeless by serving breakfast at light of light mission and making and handing out brown bag lunches.

But infused throughout all the learning, activities and service is the joy of having a good time together. Whether painting or building a wall, making lunch for those in need or studying God’s word fun is a part of everything we do.
